First Multi Stage Chirp / non-Chirp in SF Bay Area
Here's your chance to explore unknown and known places in the Cherry Chase area of Sunnyvale. Cherry Chase is the name of the local grade school. It is named after the acres of cherry trees that once stood in this neighborhood. Even as it was being built in the 60's and earlier, many cherry trees were left in backyards.
Only a few of the orchards remain. 2 areas are along Sunnyvale Saratoga road near the tennis complex, and the other near the Sunnyvale Civic Center.
This trek is about 2 miles from start to end (following streets). How long it will take depends on your route & mode of transportation, and if you are "chirp" enabled.
Parking is available at the starting location.
Note: Chirps are not "fast". It may take a minute or 2 to be recognized & send its information. Be sure your unit has chirp searching enabled. The range on chirps is about 10-20 feet. Appreciate your logs on which you find first - chirp or clue cache! (you don't need both to finish)
Please take care when removing & replacing caches.
No need to open the 3 clue cache containers. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE CHIRPs or PAPERS! (thanks)
Stage 1 - Wrightmost Corners: This is better known as the Westmoor Village Shopping Center. The start is sorta in the right most corner of the center (trust your GPSr). There is a chirp & clue cache here with information on the next stage.
Stage 2 takes you to, well, a rather unknown site but very important to Sunnyvale. There is a chirp & clue cache here with information on the next stage.
Stage 3 takes you to the only point in Sunnyvale that has had a tornado touchdown! The only sign of the tornado that remains is the broken tree trunk up about 7 feet at this location. The clue cache is not in the tree or plants. There is a chirp & clue cache here with information on the next stage.
Stage 4, the final cache is a MICRO. It is well hidden. No chirp to help you. It is a LOG ONLY micro. Bring your pen.
