Geocache Description:

This cache was placed as part of the original Athens County Geotrail (traditional portion). The incentive is gone, but the cache is still available for finding/logging. Thank you for supporting Athens County geocaches.

Note: to reach this location, please follow these directions precisely: take U.S. 50 to Gantsville Road (you will enter Washington County for about a 1/2 mile before you reach Gantsville). Turn south on Gantsville Road and follow it until it dead ends at old OH-124. Turn right on old OH-124 and then bear left at the CR-84 split. The cache site will be on the right just before you reach the end of the road (literally). If you end up in Hockingport, you did not follow these directions.

WE DO NOT ADVISE CLIMBING UP ON THE NATURAL BRIDGE.

About This Location

The natural bridge seen near here is one of 40 located in the state of Ohio. In the past, it was used as a shelter by Native Americans and early explorers of the Ohio Valley. The span is formed in sandstone of Permian age.
