Endlich ist es ruhig im Haus. Mutter und Vater sind schon vor Stunden zu Bett gegangen, aber Vater konnte wie so oft nicht schlafen. Schier endlos wälzte er sich im Bett umher, stand wieder auf und schlurfte zur Toilette oder in die Küche.
Jetzt scheint er endlich eingeschlafen zu sein - und ich kann das Haus verlassen. Du wartest sicher schon auf mich. Ich kann es gar nicht erwarten, dich wiederzusehen! Gleich bin ich bei dir, Liebster!

Finally the house is quiet. Mother and father went to bed hours ago, but like most of the nights father couldn't sleep. He seemed to toss and turn endlessly, getting up again, scuffling to toilet or kitchen.
Now it seems he's finally sleeping. It's save to leave the house now. You must be waiting already. I can't wait to see you again! I'll be right with you, dear!

Den Weg zu ihrem Liebsten kennt sie im Schlaf, so oft ist sie ihn schon gegangen.
Links am Haupttor vorbei und immer an der Mauer entlang. Geduckt, im Schutz der Dunkelheit, damit sie niemand sieht. Von dort, wo die Mauer endet, das weiß sie genau, sind es noch 1030 Schritte. Zur Orientierung und zur Sicherheit zählt sie sie jedes Mal. Dann endlich ist sie am vereinbarten Treffpunkt bei ... ihm?

She knows the route by heart, she took it so many times.
With the main gate to her right she walks along the wall, hiding from the guards' view. Once the wall ends she knows she needs to walk 1030 paces until she's there. She counts them every single time - for orientation and for her assurance. Then, finally, she arrives at their secret meeting point ...
