The co-ordinates given are not the cache location but those of the suggested parking area from which to do the series.
The total distance covered to complete the series is approx 4 miles.
Please bear in mind while strolling around this tranquil area that this was once the very busy site of Bentley Colliery. At its height it employed over 2000 men. On 20th November 1931 an underground explosion killed 45 men. Five of those men were never found and are still entombed in the mine.
It is quite ironic that I should end up putting a multicache at the place that I applied for my first job in 1965. No, I didn't get the job and, yes, I am that old!
This Multicache has been possible thanks to permission granted by The Forestry Commission, for which I am very grateful.
I have prepared this Multi with families in mind. I hope you enjoy the variety of hides that you discover along the way as much as I enjoyed creating and hiding them.
None of the caches require you to set foot inside any of the fenced off plantation areas so please stick to the paths as much as possible.
There are ten feeder caches in the series, each of which is a cache in its own right to log separately if you wish. In some (not all) of the caches you will find a laminated card with the information required to help you work out an arithmetical calculation (you will also need a little bit of general knowledge) for the location of this main cache so, DON'T FORGET TO MAKE A NOTE OF "ALL" THE INFORMATION ON EACH CARD YOU FIND.
EACH CLUE IS NUMBERED SO YOU WILL KNOW IF YOU HAVE MISSED ONE.The information on the card will also be at the start of each log book (just in case the card goes missing). There are NO NANOS, but a pair of tweezers or a similar item may be useful to extract some of the log books from the MICROS. Please try to re-hide as found if not better.
This cache is located at N 53* 33.XXX W001* 08.(XXX-533)where XXX is the total derived from the information on the laminated cards.
NOTE! THE EASIEST WAY TO THIS CACHE IS VIA N 53° 33.608 W 001° 08.187 WHICH SHOULD BE APPROACHED FROM THE NORTH.
YOU MUST VISIT THE CACHES IN NUMERICAL ORDER TO ENABLE YOU TO WORK OUT THE CALCULATION FOR THE LOCATION OF THIS CACHE CORRECTLY.
ON THE BACK COVER (and on the back page)OF THE LOG BOOK IN THIS CACHE YOU WILL FIND THE CO-ORDINATES FOR THE REAL PRICE OF COAL - BENTLEY PIT BONUS.
The cache contains: Log book, pencil, pencil sharpener and various swaps
