This cache is located at a statue and fountain near the north-eastcorner of Regent's Park. The statue is a copy of Joseph Durham's
(1814-1877) At the Spring/Early Morn (1867), which is at
Blackburn Town Hall. It was possibly mentioned in Virginia Woolf's
Mrs. Dalloway - "[Peter Walsh] remembered Regent’s
Park; the long straight walk; the little house where one bought
air-balls to the left; an absurd statue with an inscription
somewhere or other".
The inscription on the statue reads:
SAINT PANCRAS
MIDDLESEX
This fountain and works connected therewith
were presented to the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain
Association on the 3rd day of August 1878 by
MATILDA
wife of RICHARD KENT. ESQ.
junior churchwarden 1878.
The figure now cast in bronze
was designed by Joseph Durham. A.R.A.
