Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small plastic container that contains only a log. Please remember to bring your own writing instrument.

This cache is located at the Grand Army of the Republic monument that honors the dead Yankee soldiers buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia. Some books call them Federal casualties, but in actuality the soldiers didn't die as a result of combat. They were men who had no family ties left up north and chose to remain in the Judsonia area after the end of the Civil War. Sixteen of them are buried near the monument that was erected and dedicated in 1894. It is the only memorial to Union troops in Arkansas and is thought to be the only GAR memorial in the South. The inscription reads simply, "In memory of the Defenders of the Union, 1861-1865."

I hope you find this cache to be both fun and educational. If you find it in need of attention, please note it in your online log or email me through my profile link.

Above all, be safe, have fun, and happy caching.
