A beautiful nature reserve with walking tracks. A local highlight.
As with many of our caches, this one has gone missing many times. We have down-sized the container to reduce the issue. This cache is a small container with swaps and log of course. PLEASE RETURN TO THE EXACT LOCATION. Thank you.
This cache was originally listed on GCA as part of their 10th Anniversary celebration. We have moved it across to GC to give it more exposure. Thanks to those cachers who have found it previously and happy hunting to future cachers :)
Originally owned by the Thynne family between 1902 and 1941, 40 hectares of rainforest was 'gifted' to the public in honor of their late mother, Mary Thynne (nee Cairncross).
Today this land is trusteed to the Sunshine Coast regional council and is maintained as a nature reserve. The recreation area adjacent the car park has gas barbecues, a children's playground, wheelchair accessible amenities, a cafe and views of the Glasshouse Mountains. There is also an education center where you can learn about the diverse Fauna and Flora living in the rainforest. For a 'gold coin donation' you can walk through the rainforest along 2 kilometers of maintained pathways. Guided tours are available for schools and groups - bookings required.
We thought this was a lovely place to put a cache.
Happy caching!
