NEVADAVILLE SPRING From the location of the cache look up hill on the road in a southwestern direction to where the road makes an “S” curve about 100 yards. Off the road to the right behind trees and bushes is a small structure with a rusted metal roof. This is the Nevadaville Spring. It is a natural spring which runs year round. Throughout the history of the town of Nevadaville this was the water supply of the entire town that at one time had a population of over 2,000 people. As Nevadaville grew talk was started of digging a water ditch from the Fall River basin to town but the town declined and withered before the project was even started, thus the use of the spring. The means of delivering the water from the spring to the homes and businesses of the town was donkey drawn carts. One of our uncles, after graduating from the eighth grade, ran such a wagon. The barrels held 30 gallons each and the charge was 30 cents per barrel.
