The Gauntlet - First Place
The Stray Dogs
On Saturday, at 8:00AM, we will have several semi-competitive, somewhat organized, get lost in the woods, geo-fun kinda caching activities (See Activities below for details and links)

After the caching activities, we will be serving cooked animal, an assortment of side items, and ice cold drinks. No need to bring anything for dinner, but attendees should plan on bringing their own food and drinks for the rest of the day and/or weekend.

The posted coords are for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Outdoor Adventure Camp (OAC) in the Ocala National Forest. Additional information at

The Outdoor Adventure Camp is a beautiful site on Eaton Lake. Camping is FREE!. It is group camping, with plenty of room. Camping is available from Thursday Afternoon, October 20th, through Sunday Morning, October 23rd.

While there is no need for an individual site registration, we appreciate if you indicate what night you expect to camp on your registration for the event. There is limited availability of electricity at the camp, but no individual site hookups.

Cabins and Bunkhouses

There will also be rustic cabins and bunkhouse accommodations available at cost. Cost of the cabins is $8 per person, per night, with a minimum charge of four persons per night and a two night minimum (for you Bulldog fans, that's $64 for two nights minimum for a cabin.

Bunkhouses are $5 per person per night in advance, or $7 per night at the event). We will have a Men's and a Women's bunkhouse, and depending on interest, we will have coed bunkhouse for couples and families. For reservations, please contact AUFishHead.

All money for cabins and bunkhouses go directly to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Other Camping and Lodging

* Salt Springs Recreation Area -- Camping with Hookups (NOTE: They limit the reservations this time of year, even though they have available spaces. However, if you tell them it is for Florida Finders Fest, they have said they will allow the additional reservations.)
* Mill Dam Lake Resort -- Cabins and RV spaces
* Holiday Inn Express - Silver Springs
* Days Inn- Silver Springs

The "philosophy" of Florida Finders Fest is that there is something for all cachers. If you're a numbers ho, there are lots of caches. If you are looking for "quality", you'll be in a national forest with lots of great new caches and lots of long established caches. Hiking, kayaking, drive ups, off road, and everything in between, its all there.

If you just want to cool out with some fellow cachers, there is plenty of opportunity for that as well.

We do have a number of semi-organized activities. Participate in some, all, or none, as you are so inclined. The following adventures will be available:

The Gauntlet
Poker Run
Best Team Geo-Shirt

In addition to these activities, there are more activities and events to be announced.  Stay tuned!

Please register on our Florida Finders Fest web site in addition to posting your "will attend" here. There is registration for all attendees and a separate registration page for team participating in The Gauntlet. Registration is FREE, as is participation in the event, camping, The Gauntlet and the Poker Run.
