The trail is closed on Weekdays from November 1st to March 1st.
Cache page blatantly stolen from Sassy, with some small changes. See related web page for original listing. Please bring a pen as this small small will not hold one.
The cache is meant to be easy, the purpose is to point out a little known beach access point in Everett and a great paved trail. You will be on an asphalt trail almost the entire time except for the very last bit. Two waypoints and a final. At no time will there be any need to go past any signage.
Some new signage makes it look like they are in the process of renaming the trail to Mill Town Trail.
The posted hours are down to dusk, I would not recommend starting if it is close to dusk as you may not have enough time to get back to the gate at the trailhead where the open gate may be closed and locked.
The next three paragraphs are lifted from the prior cache page by Sassy.
Pigeon Creek, a beautiful public beach and viewpoint, is accessible via a Port of Everett Public Access trail running along Terminal Avenue. Along the trail, cachers can view the port terminal operations as well as an occasional passing train. The end of the trail boasts a landscaped viewpoint overlooking a gentle sloping saltwater beach, rich with wildlife.
The trail and beach, which are accessible from dawn until dusk, are protected from the secured industrial Port terminal operations by a fence, which runs along side the trail. Pedestrians or bicyclists can access the paved trail from Bond Street or from Terminal Avenue for a longer walk. Parking is available on Bond Street or along Terminal Avenue in designated parking areas. (See additional waypoints) Two picnic tables and benches are located at the beach site, however no other facilities are available. (Occasionally a porta potty along the trail is unlocked, but do not count on it.) When visiting the site, please abide by the posted notices.
PLEASE NOTE: There are working train tracks nearby and although the Port of Everett has done a bang up job of keeping even accidental access limited one can never be too careful. Please be extra cautious and use common sense.
Because the great information signs Sassy used in the original cache have been vandalized and do not provide the information needed, we will use a couple of spots along the way to gather the coordinates to the final.
Posted coordinates are the starting point if you used alternate parking. It is very important to start here or at the posted trailhead coordinates provided, these are the only two access points for this trail.
On the same trail is the cache Walking the Trail - Pigeon Creek, make sure to download it also as you will be walking right by it.
