One of CNJC Cache to Eagle Series of caches being put out by scoutleaders to feature Eagle projects.
Eagle is the highest rank that a boy can earn in scouts. He has to complete at least 21 merit badges (12 specific required ones and 9 others of his choosing). He also has to hold a position of leadership in the troop for at least 6 months, plus plan and carry out a service project that benefits either a religious or community organization. Many of these projects exceed 100 man-hours to complete. The scout has to fund-raise to pay for this also.
There will be a total of 13 caches in the series. The first 12 will be named for the 12 points of the Scout Law: “A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent”. The 13th cache will be a puzzle cache. There is a clue in each of the first 12 that taken together will give you the co-ordinates of the final cache. As you visit each of the caches, be sure to collect the clue in each one so that you can gather the co-ordinates for the final puzzle cache. These all will be coming out soon. Completion of the whole series will enable you to purchase a special patch designed for our council to commemorate this series.
This Eagle project was completed by Steve from Troop 175. The series of hiking trails traverses the Independence hillside. He added a bridge and a bench on the long uphill climb. You'll find the cache close to the intersection of two trails. A silver thermos hold the cache.
