Geocache Description:

ENG:
Rømer did the measurements required to place Denmarks first milestone in 1692. It was done by order from King Christian 5th. The milestones had to be carved in stone. The stone was originally placed on a hillock. A Danish mile was 7538 meters from 1835 until 1907 when the metric system was introduced. At each mile a stone with the number and eventually the King monogram was placed. A stone was also placed at each quarter, half and three quarter mile. Each quarter mile was marked by a carved dot on the stone. This stone is thus a half milestone. These milestones are quite seldom but you ca find one more here close to Hillerød. At this stone you also find a cache that I have placed.
The cache 5x12 cm. contains from start the following: A logbook and a pencil. FTF and JFTF diploma will be send on request if I’m contacted via my profile.
