Geocache Description:

Wesley Seale Dam & The City of Corpus Christi Wildlife Sanctuary

Walk along the dam to the Nueces River. The pools at the base of the dam often attract waterfowl (Blue-winged Teal, Gadwall, American Pigeon), and for several years Black Phoebes have wintered along the rocks here. When reaching the dam walk the trails into the woods that extend along the river. Watch for Osprey flying down the river from the dam, and always look and listen for migrant land birds in the trees.

Nature trails through elm – hackberry/sugarberry riparian corridor along the Nueces River below Wesley Seale Dam at Lake Corpus Christi. This habitat lacks the frequency of flooding, due to the dam, needed to maintain a good quality bottomland forest.

Since this is a wildlife sanctuary the LARGE cache container is filled with a lot of wildlife of its own. So bring the kids to explore the trails and have them bring some small to medium sized stuffed animals to swap with some that are in the cache container!

Beware of critters, snakes and poison ivy!

CONGATS to ckpetrus for FTF!
