An easy cache in a delightful location near Moaness Pier on Hoy. There are superb views all around of the nearby hills, Graemesay and back across Hoy Sound towards Stromness. There is a great walk (amongst others) through the glen to Rackwick and the Old Man of Hoy but is a serious undertaking in poor weather so be well prepared please.
Unless you are on the Island of Hoy you will need to take the passenge ferry (the mv Graemsay) between Stromness and Moaness Pier in the north of Hoy. The ferry normally runs three times a day from Monday to Friday, twice on Friday evening and twice daily on Saturday and Sunday. This vessel also calls at Graemsay with a reduced service in winter (mid-Sep to early-May).
A minibus runs between Moaness Pier and Rackwick Bay, on the opposite side of the island. If you intend going to Hoy and Moaness, you are strongly advised to check the ferry timings as the weather and tidal conditions can affect them.
The cache is a small bottle with log and pencil.
