Gypsey Race III Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,
DalesmanX

Geocache Description:

This cache is along a footpath that starts from the road where there is space for parking, or you could walk here form Gypsey Race II cache.

This Cache is the second of three to celebrate the GeoArtCache Bank Holiday event that took place on 29th and 30th May 2011. During this event three pieces of artwork were produced and exhibited and art workshops were held for visitors.

The artwork that was placed here was:
The Catch
The intermittent Gyspey Race is in full flow in Duggleby and folklore suggests that local people used to throw valuable possessions into the stream to bring good luck. The Catch installation captured the magical essence of the Gypsey Race by using hundreds of paper water bombs suspended above and landing on the water of the river acting as vessels and glistening jewels to highlight the beauty of water. The process-based work invited visitors to participate to keep the artwork alive over the two days by making a water bomb to fill with the Gypsey Race water and add to the installation.

Contains: The Catch artwork, 2 origami water bombs made by families during the event, note pad and pen, poem, event coordinate cards, fishing line, postcard of event
