An easy drive-in cache that's located in Geilo, Norway.
Geilo is a village in Hallingdalen ("Halling valley"), Hol municipality, with a population of about 2300.
The centre lies about 800 metres above sealevel.
Geilo is situated almost halfway between Bergen and Oslo.
Tourism is an important resource for the village, in winter and summer holidays there may be a lot of people staying at campings or in cabins, apartments and hotels.
Hol municipality had about 1 987 500 "guest days" in 2010 according to www.geilo.no.
The area is probably best known for wintersports, and there are several skilifts in the area serving 40 alpine slopes.
Also in the summer there are a few skilifts working, taking people up and down the mountains that surround the valley.
Many people take the lifts up and hike down, or take their mountainbikes for a spin in their natural habitat.
Geilo also has a 9 hole golf course, possibilities for horseback riding, a knife factory and, well... a lot of other attractions.
You'll find more information at www.geilo.no (visit link)
The cache is placed in a residential area called Vestlia.
Most houses here were built in the 1980's.
You'll find the cache on the fence of the house where some of cacheowner's familymembers live.
They are aware of it being there (and perform maintenance if necessary), so it's no problem logging while they e.g. are outside enjoying the sun.
But: you can always just pass on if you don't like being watched while caching...
The cache is located less than 2 metres from the street, so you don't have to enter the garden or driveway itself.
The cache is a micro, bring your own pen! BYOP
