Die Boselspitze
Unmittelbar an der Sächsischen Weinstraße liegt auf Sörnewitzer Flur die Boselspitze, mit 182 m über N.N. der höchste Aussichtspunkt im Spaargebirge. Beeindruckend ist die Aussicht über die Stadt im Grünen und die malerischen Windungen des Elbstromes. Der Sage nach soll sich hier eine alte Kultstätte der Slawen, die ihren Gott „Boh“ nannten, befunden haben. Wahrscheinlicher ist aber die Ableitung vom mittelhochdeutschen Wort „bozeln“ für „das Kleinschlagen gebrochener Steine“, was bestens zum bis 1935 betriebenen Steinbruch passen würde. Vom gemauerten Rondell, zuweilen auch Deutsche Bosel genannt, bietet sich ein herrlicher Ausblick auf das Elbtal, Coswig, Weinböhla, die Lößnitz, Dresden und die Sächsische Schweiz. In unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zum Aussichtspunkt finden wir den „Pflanzengarten Boselspitze“, eine Aussenstelle des Botanischen Gartens Dresden. Der Botanische Garten auf der Boselspitze ist von April bis Oktober geöffnet. Öffnungszeiten: Mi 9 - 15 Uhr, Sa 10 - 17 Uhr, Eintritt frei.

Near the Saxony Wine Route at the Sömewitzer area the Boselspitze is located and with its 182 m height above sea level it is the highest point in the Spaar mountains. The view over the city of Dresden and the pictorial turns of the river Elbe are impressive. With regards to a local myth the Slav, that called their god „Boh“, had a ritual place here once upon a time. But it is more likely that the middle high german deflection of the word „bozeln“, what means something like smashing broken stones, is meant due to a quarry that has been operated there since 1935. From the masoned rondel, also called „German Bosel“, you have an impressive view over the Elbe Valley, Coswig, Weinböhla, the Lössnitz, Dresden and the Saxon Switzerland. The Botanical Garden at the Boselspitze is open from April to October on Wednesday 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and it is for free.
