The Helicopter Landing on Samsoe

Samsø med sine knap 4500 indbyggere havde et sygehus, Tranebjerg Sygehus eller Samsø Sygehus, det kom i søgelyset da politikerne skulle finde besparelser for at matche udgifterne med bevillingerne.
Det medførte en kraftig beskæring på sygehusets drift.

Besparelserne blev dog ædt op af forsvarets udgifter til at flyve akutpatienter væk fra øen, der ikke kunne afvente færgeturen på de 5 kvarter til fastlandet og videre transport til Århus eller Horsens, da Odder Sygehus jo også var lukket for akutmodtagelse.

Så forsvarets helikoptere har deres egen 'rede' landingsplads på øen. De sygehusansvarlige politikere i det forhenværende amtsråd nu regionsråd betragtede det dog ikke som et problem - da det var en anden kasse at de penge skulle tages fra.

With around 4500 residents on Samsoe they had a hospital named Traneberg hospital or Samsoe Hospital. This hospital came in the spotlight of the politicians when they were to find savings to match the costs with appropriations.
This resulted in a big trimming in the operating of the hospital.

But they soon realised that these trimmings were wasted due to the expenses of flying acute patients, that could not wait for the over one hour ride on the fiery and afterwards to Aarhus or Horsens, away from the island.

Because of the need of acute medical care from time to time the helicopters have now got their own landing spot on the island. The politicians responsible for the hospital did not see this as a problem due to the fact that the money no longer had to come from the hospital.
