A small cache in a quiet location with a view across a pond to a man-made mountain.
This location marks one of the most successful gold-mining areas around Chiltern. The 'lake' and the 'mountain' were both made during deep-lead mining operations to bring the gold up from deep underground.. The Chiltern Valley Gold Mining Co. worked along here from 1876 to 1920. These mines used electric traction to haul the ore up the shaft, replacing pit ponies and men. The mullock heap and ruined buildings across the lake are on private property - no public access.
A small cache with logbook, a few coins, a wooden whistle and a Bike Vic trinket. Please replace cache as found!
