Geocache Description:

Cache set for the Eskapades event - available for logging from Fri 17th June.

Built around 1829, Torwood Cottage was a fine example of of the Greek Revival movement of architecture which had began in Scotland around 20 years earlier. Totally hidden from view from both the road and the parking the (rather grand) cottage is now in ruins but enough of it still remains to see how impressive it must have been in its day with the pillared entranceway and rounded bay windows although some of the facing stones on the bay are looking quite precarious now. Underneath the cottage there are arched rooms, the remains of a fireplace and set of stairs (you can look into them from a large hole at the side of the building)

There had been some proposals to restore the building around 20 years ago but nothing seems to have ever came of them.

Parking just in the end of the track - be aware that the farm track is used regularly so please don't block it - there is space on the grass. Also the cars on this road tend to go very fast so please be very careful entering and exiting the area - don't try reversing out as you cannot see what is coming up the road at all!!!

Beware there was an old barbed wire fence close to the cache and there is still some wire around.

Cache is a 470ml lock and lock box
