This is a series of 6 caches placed in Cowpound Wood which is in the Dorset village of Athelhampton. It is a circular walk of about 2 miles that begins along a public footpath that is situated next to the village church, a waypoint is provided. This leads you along a footpath (which is very narrow in places ) into Cowpound wood. After finding cache No 2 you can complete the circular walk in any order, but we recommend doing it in numerical order for an easier walk, before returning along the same public footpath back to the village.
The walk will take you around a lovely quiet wood with the opportunity to see various wildlife in their natural habitats, also along the trail you can see some stunning views across the Dorset countryside and during bluebell season the wood is a blanket of stunning colour.
The paths can become muddy in places after rain or in winter, the walk around the wood is generally easy but due to the paths being very narrow in places with vegetation it may be unsuitable for all terrain buggies etc.
There are 4 waypoints provided, one for parking in Athelhampton house car park, this has room for numerous cars and is used by the church community and villagers. Followed by one for the trailhead, and finally two for a section of the walk between caches No 3 & 4 where it guides you around a field to continue the walk.
You are searching for a variety of micro and small containers, there is a FTF prize placed in one random cache which is a prize for the whole series.
You are looking for a small clip n lok container, Please bring a pencil as not all the caches contain one.
Good Luck!!
