BCRT #4: Little Streams of Alcohol Multi-Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Keystone: This geocache came to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either fix the problem or archive the listing, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Hiding Guidelines. In the meantime, I've temporarily disabled this cache page.

Owner, if there is a good reason for a long delay in enabling this cache, do not contact me through email or the message center. Please post an update note log here on the cache page so that everyone will know what's going on. When the maintenance is completed, you can re-enable the listing by entering an "enable listing" log. Use an "Owner Maintenance" log to clear the "Needs Maintenance" attribute, if set.

I will check back in four weeks or so to be sure that the maintenance has been done, or that an explanation has been provided. If the problem persists, I will need to archive this cache page for lack of maintenance.

Keystone

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Bellefonte Central Rail Trail Geocache Series. This 3-stage cache will have take you along the abandoned Bellefonte Central Railroad between Waddle and I-99/220, which has been converted into a rails-to-trails path for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

Heyday and Cautious Optimism

"From the late 1920s onward, a single customer provided 80 percent of more the of the BFC’s annual tonnage. The Chemical Lime Company operated three lime plants adjacent to the BFC’s mainline, several quarries, and one underground mine. National Gypsum, headquartered in Buffalo, New York, bought Chemical Lime in 1940 and consolidated lime-making in a single plant, fed from the underground mine, which was greatly expanded. This complex, about 3.5 miles west of Bellefonte, was commonly known as “the Gyp.”"
--Excerpted from 'Bellefonte Central Railroad - Historical Summary' by Michael Bezilla and Jack Rudnicki

The cache should take you just over 2 miles to complete from State 1 to the Final, and for the most part the path is easy, level and well maintained, but some bushwacking might be necessary at each stage.
