This is one of our SCHS (Story County High Schools) Cache Series which are a tribute to the seven school districts that make up Story County.
Welcome to Huxley and the home of the Ballard Bombers. Being from Nevada, putting a cache here almost made us cringe because we were HUGE rivals with Ballard growing up. I don't know if the rivalry is still as heated as it was back then.
Ballard Community is home of the Bombers and their school colors are red, white and blue. There are four communities that make up the Ballard district: Huxley, Cambridge, Slater and Kelley. The HS and MS are both located in Huxley, with two elementary schools in Cambridge (Ballard East) and Slater (Ballard West). The district is currently building a brand new high school on the west end of Huxley which I know is desperately needed since the old facility is out-of-date and too small.
