ENG: The dam of Hästberga power station bursted November 7, 2010. An electrical failure plunged the alarm system and the flood gates inoperative.
SWE: Dammen vid Hästberga kraftverk brast den 7 november 2010. Ett elektriskt fel försatte larmsystem och dammluckor ur funktion. Vattenmassorna förorsakade stor skada på egendom, åkrar, omgivande vegetation samt totalförstörde en korsande väg/bro. Skadorna kan tydligt ses kring kraftverket och fortsatt nedströms. Vattnet har en stor destruktiv förmåga, inte att underskatta. Lyckligtvis dog ingen då dammen brast, möjligen hade saken varit en annan om dammen brustit under våren eller sommaren då det rör sig mer människor i trakten. Förutom vandringsled har man även paddlat kanot längs ån.
Då cachen lades ut innehöll den; loggbok, plåsterbox ifrån 1177, del av nyckelring, blå glasbit, gummiboll samt en FTF pin som tilldelas den förste som hittar cachen. Medtag egen penna!
ENG: The dam of Hästberga power station bursted November 7, 2010. An electrical failure plunged the alarm system and the flood gates inoperative. Water masses caused great damage to property, farmland, surrounding vegetation, and totally destroyed a side-road / bridge. The damage can be clearly seen around the power station and further downstream. The water has a high destructive potential, not to be underestimated. Fortunately no one died when the dam burst, possibly had it been different if the dam burst in the spring or summer when more people are active in the neighborhood. Besides walking trails it has been a site for canoe paddling along the stream.
When the cache was placed, it contained; logbook, plasterbox from 1177, part of a keychain, blue piece of glass, rubber ball and a FTF pin awarded to the first person to find the cache. Bring your own pen!
