Geocache Description:

This is the second in the series of 2 caches I dropped as my first caches!

If you are coming from Lewistown (East) grab this first, then go up the mountain to turn around and hit Porcupine Alley #1.

If you are coming from State College (West) grab Porcupine Alley #1 first, then continue down the mountain and turn around at the Milroy exit to get to the parking spot for #2..

I call this area Porcupine Alley because in the past I have seen quite a few porcupines out and about.

I have realized there is a little confusion about porcupines, so allow me to learn you something today: porcupines, contrary to popular belief, CANNOT shoot their quills when they are scared. The quills have little barbs on the end like a fishing hook, so if they stick you, they stay stuck and pull out of the animal. There is no more danger in approaching a porcupine than any other wild animal, it will not go on the offense and attack you, but you need to be aware if you have a dog with you as dogs have a tendency to get a nose-full of quills.

You will be walking along a trail that follows the edge of the Lauren Creek Reservoir.

The first piece of free advice I will give you is when you park at the parking coordinates (about halfway up the hill) there is a fairly distinguishable trail that goes down the hill. If you start your journey too far up, you will end up going down some very steep areas and run into a few old logging roads that may confuse you. The trail along the lake is well traveled.

Also, in the last 100-200 feet, you may need to get creative or be prepared to get wet feet if the creek is running like it was when I dropped the cache off.

PLEASE READ:
This area is a good spot for hunting, so wear orange during any hunting season. Also, there may be bears and snakes in the area, so be alert. ALSO, please make sure the cache is well hidden before you leave.

Congrats to Carels for the FTF!
