Take a moment to wander the park, to read the plaques, to sit on a bench, to view the artwork and gardens. This park is a wonderful addition to the Credit Valley Hospital.
This cache was hidden by mini-cacher Benny. He felt that this park is a special place, and he wanted people to visit. We've driven past this place so many, many times. It was good to finally be able to take a slow walk through the grounds.
The cache is a magnetic nano. Bring your own pencil, and please just initial the log.
Parking is tricky, unless you're willing to pay for it at the hospital. Try parking at the mall to the northwest.
Information about the park:
Through a gift from the R.A. Bloch Cancer Foundation in the United States, The Credit Valley Hospital is the host site for the first Cancer Survivors Park in Canada. Cancer Survivors Parks were created by the renowned Richard Bloch, founder of H & R Block. He and his wife Annette created a foundation to support their vision of building supportive environments for those who are affected with cancer. Cancer Survivors Parks include three key elements meant to inspire hope and provide comfort to cancer survivors and their families: a positive mental attitude walk; an art presentation of eight life size bronze figures passing through a maze representing the journey of fighting cancer; and a road to recovery walk. Unique to the Canadian park is a life size carerra marble sculpture entitled “Emergence”, a sculpture donated by Oakville resident and internationally acclaimed artist, Editt Davidovici.
