Geocache Description:

uzturēšanās vieta bērnība no 1944- 1954

[ENG] The small but deep Bezdibeņa (abyss) lake is located in the Korneti–Peļļi chain of lakes. Around 1960, the lake’s shores were not yet so overgrown; back then, they looked more like meadows rather than forest, as they do now. At that time, the little sons of Balodis, the owner of a nearby house, loved to play by this lake. Later, when one of the boys died in his teenage years after an unsuccessful appendix operation, the father placed a monument at the spot where his sons had played in childhood. The monument is made of concrete, with the boys’ photographs embedded in it, along with a metal plaque bearing an inscription (translated)_:

Stranger, who looks upon this memorial sign—
remember death and think of two sunny boys:
Vitolds and Zilvions, for whom this valley,
with its little stream and lake, was the dearest
place to spend their childhood, from 1944–1954.
