Geocache Description:

Ammo can that is 100 miles round up from my home coordinates. I was on my way to California in a road trip with my sister when we decided to hide this cache to complete my 100 miles series.

The access to the trail is fairly easy here because the trail runs parallel to the highway.

This is a section of the Homestead Corridor Trail here in Nebraska. The trail has been created after the railroad tracks were removed.

The Homestead Trail corridor stretches approximately 60 miles, from the edge of Lincoln, south to Marysville, Kansas. A link is planned to the Homestead National Monument, near Beatrice.

Several entities own stretches of the corridor and complete development will take many years, however the portion of the corridor owned by the Lower Platte South NRD between Lincoln’s Wilderness Park and Cortland is open.

Users will pass through a diversity of habitat types including upland, grassland, floodplain, cropland, timber and pastures. The vegetation provided within the corridor is occasionally the only wildlife habitat for several miles of intensely cropped areas.

Small parcels of native vegetation exist along this corridor and reflect in a small way what existed within this landscape just a short 100 years ago.

Stay on the roads and use only the trailhead to access the cache since almost everything here is private property. Most are farms of course. The cache lies on the side underneath something; basically its on the side of the trail.

The cache has its own guardian. A permanent sentinel that guards its contents. A travel bug that may be easily discovered.
