This is a cache that was created to be part of the Gauteng Power Series (GPS). Spitfire’s are a British single-seat short ranged fighter aircraft used in Second World War. The Spitfire Mk IX was first produced in 1942. The Spitfire Mk IX was an upgrade to the Mk VB. The MK VB engine was upgraded by Rolls-Royce so it could to compete with the Focke Wulf Fw 190. The Spitfire Mk IX performance increase was described as a "quantum leap". 5,656 of the Spitfire Mk IX were built. The Spitfire Mk IX is 9.12 m long and has a wingspan of 11.23 m. It weighs 3,320 kg (empty) and maximum speed is 650 km/h with a range of 1,900 km
