NY Capital Region Geocachers 9th Annual Picnic
September 17th, 2011
Moreau Lake State Park
(Gansevoort, NY)
This year the event will only be for Saturday, September 17th. in
the pavillion at the listed coordinates.
The event is a Potluck Picnic, which means everyone attending
brings something along to share. The NY Capital Region Geocachers
will be supplying the hamburgers, hot dogs and buns. Breakfast and
dinner are up to the individuals.
There are currently 98 caches
within 5 miles of the park entrance...can you git 'em
all?
"Moreau Lake State Park's lake lies amid hardwood forests, pine
stands and rocky ridges. Shady groves of trees shelter picnic
grounds and a pavilion overlooking the lake. Wooded campgrounds are
quiet and secluded, offering facilities for group campers, as well
as tent and trailer sites. The sandy beach, nature, hiking and
cross-country ski trails, opportunities for boating, fishing and
ice fishing, and proximity to the Saratoga Springs and Lake George
areas make the park attractive to visitors. In the summer, beach
lounges, beach umbrella and fishing gear can be rented. "

Park Entrance Coorinates:
N43 13.579 W073 42.463
Take I-87; Exit 17S to Route 9, then in a few hundred feet turn
right onto Old Saratoga Rd.
The entrance is just 3/4 of mile up Old Saratoga Rd.

Vehicle
Entrance Fee: New York Registered Vehicles: $8/car
Out of State Vehicles: $13/car
Pets:
Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet,
rabies vaccination and proof of same required. Not permitted in
buildings or bathing areas.
Official timeline
- 9am – Registration officially opens up.
- 11:30am-1pm – potluck and BBQ lunch
(Please post what you'll be bringing so that we don't all have
the same thing).
- 4pm – Group photo!!
- 4:10pm+ – Event contest winners awarded.

- Caption the Photos (Do you have a "special" photo that
could be fun having us poke fun at...Bring it along!)
