Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. Geocache Description:

David Thompson Monument PLEASE bring your own pen

This Monument has a history. Its original location was by the Castlegar-Robson ferry ramp, in November of 1977 it was moved overlooking the Kinnard bridge. In the spring of 2002 it was moved once again to its current location. It was originally accepted that to move the entire monument would be to costly an undertaking, and the plan was to relocate the plaque only. But Walter Volovsek was very hard working and found a way to have the whole monument moved. With Major support from Castlegar Public Works, Peter Kiewit Sons Co,Dell Transport, Wesley Construction and Parks Canada. The new setting for the monument is ideal as it is very close to the location Thompson camped on the night of Sept 5th 1811. Please re-hide the cache as found to keep it intact as this walkway is very busy at times. Watch out for muggles also :)
