Hamilton Water Works
The water treatment plant in Hamilton on Woodward Road has a capacity of 909,000 m3/day (200 million gallons per day.It operates at 1/3 to 1/2 of its total capacity. Lake water is taken via an intake pipe and is then pumped to the Woodward Water Treatment Plant. The water is treated with polyhydroxyaluminum chloride. The filtration process has been upgraded using granulated activated carbon filters to remove taste and odour. Chlorine and ammonia are added to the filtered water. It is then pumped via a series of pumping stations through almost 1,874 kilometres of water mains to homes and businesses in Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Dundas, Ancaster and areas of Flamborough and Glanbrook, as well as Caledonia, York and Cayuga. This 3 stage multi starts at the waterworks pumping station on Greenhill Road. There will be some hiking on trails. You may even encounter some moving water along the way if done in the springtime. The final is less than 500 meters away. If lucky you may find water flowing in the area by both Glover and East Glover Falls. At present stage 1 may be missing or just under snow. Until I check it out, you might want to try N43 12.508 W079 46.879 for a clue.
