I haven't done a
loop for a while, so I thought I'd make this a bit special. There
are six caches in total (of various types), around the north sides
of Slieau Ruy and Greeba, down through the Glion Gill Plantations -
a favourite haunt of mine for a good early Sunday morning walk. In
total the hike is just over 10km (six miles), but there are a few
variations to the route if you so wish - be forewarned that you
shall encounter a wide range of terrain, from grassy fields to
tarmacadam roadway and dense forest to marshy bogland - wear
appropriate footwear, and study the area (on the geocaching map for
example) before you set off.
You can find space to park at the waypoint below - there's room for
a few cars. Alternatively you could park at Marown school, however
this would add an additional three miles on to the length of the
loop. The cache itself is at the top of a little (but quite steep)
hill, to the side of the path. It's a regular sized container in a
camo bag - a note for the FTF: The cache is sealed with a green
plastic tie similarly to a milk bottle - please can you remove it,
and dispose of it suitably (once you've finished your walk). Good
luck!
