Dellwood West Wandering Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

KroBro: I hate letting this one go. It was a nice way to spend a couple hours. Lockport has leased this area to a paintball company at this time. Think they thought nobody really liked it out here and decided to go after revenue instead. Thanks to all that came out and wandered around for awhile. I was humbled by everyone one of your logs. Thank you again.....Kro

Geocache Description:

Dellwood West Wandering

***Cache is not at the posted coordinates***

Went out here to look for an interesting spot for a cache. Instead I just started wandering around looking at various locations out here. Thought I would share a few of those with you. Some I left off the list as I know some new hides should be developing there. As I show you around, take your time and look over the land. The Joliet Iron Works were just south of here.

STAGE 1: The Sign

 At the listed coords you will find a sign. Count the number of red letters on that sign. Add that number to both;

N41 34.050        W088 04.266
+            xx         +             xx
---------------        -----------------
    Stage2                   Stage2

You now have the coords for STAGE 2.

STAGE 2: Nice views

Here at ground zero you will find a man-made object. Convert the letters in the name of this object to its number, where A=1, B=2...Z=26. Take the sum of these numbers and add them to;

N41 33.819        W88 04.321
+            xx        +            xx
---------------        ---------------
    Stage 3                Stage3

You now have the coords for STAGE 3.
Before the man-made object, you will see a path that leads to the west. Follow that a short distance for some awesome views. Do you see what I saw?

STAGE 3: Camp (This would make a nice camping spot)

Where you zero-out should be obvious. Well, maybe not in the winter, but yea.......
Gonna do a little projection to reach stage 4.
At GZ, project a waypoint 500 feet @ 235 degrees.
Off you go...

STAGE 4: Bleacher

This is an interesting object left behind. Enter the enclosure that is furthest west and has the two broken concrete pillars in front. Once inside, add the number of steel brackets on the wall. Take that sum and multiply by 10 and then add to the following coords for the final;

Sum x 10 = ZZ

N41 34.029        W88 04.268
+           ZZ        +            ZZ
---------------       ----------------
    FINAL                   FINAL

With these coords,  head off for the final.
Let me give you coords for a trailhead which will make it easier. This is all public land so don't be concerned. Never saw this TH before;
N41 34.047 W088 04.366

FINAL

The final is a LnL...I hope you enjoyed this little stroll around here. Hard to believe it's a park.

Take care my friends...KB
