THE CACHE IS AT THE COORDINATES, BUT CANNOT BE REACHED FROM GZ. DO NOT BOTHER GOING TO CHECK. START AT THE PARKING COORDINATES AND THEN HIKE TO ENTRY POINT COORDINATES.
THE PATHWAY IS VERY OVERGROWN NOW. SOME BUSHWHACKING IS NECESSARY. CHALLENGING CACHE. YOUR BUTT AND THIGHS WILL NOT LIKE YOU.
Start at the parking area and hoof it along the ditch. You'll know what you have to do when you find the access point.
If you end up crawling...you're on the wrong path!!!
Technique: You don't have to bring a string...a good method to determine exit path is to use kid's sidewalk chalk.
TikiGirl (Lani) was an airline flight attendant who loved to travel the country and geocache. She was high energy and brighten everyone's day she met. I had the chance to meet her when I was in town and she asked for company for attempting this cache. I missed my opportunity and she braved the trek alone. Upon finishing this arduous cache she proclaimed it her "All-time FAVORITE!!!" I feel very honored and a little guilty for not going along with her on her attempt. Tragically Lani and her husband were killed in a car accident not long after finding this cache. I have been thinking about honoring her memory and so I've subtitled this cache in memorial to her. I think of you often. You were definitely DGS Diva worthy!
The Dirtbag Geocaching Society is known for particularly challenging and vexing hides. They have some of the most creative hides in North Carolina. Not for everybody, but plenty of favorite points. All of those guys are my good friends and it's never a dull moment when they are in action. I thought I'd place a DGS hide in my hometown.
