This series of caches is designed to show you some lovely areas but alas, lightly used. This walk is around Cherry Wood and Hinderton. There are a mixture of different caches ranging from Nano to Large, and all ranging quite widely in difficulty. I hope you enjoy this series.
This walk is around 2 miles in length and starts at Upper Raby Road, with parking at School Lane. (Waypoint below).
THE WALK:
1. After parking your cache-mobile, turn around and head in the direction of Raby village. Almost on your immediate right, you will come to a public footpath next to Cherry Farm. Turn down here and you will pass through a small gate. Walk until you come to a junction by a Sandstone Pillar and turn right.
2. Continue walking through this woodland, known, as Cherry Wood, and you will walk past ac-p’s Cat Basketcache.
3. After a short distance, you should see a wooden stile on your right, leading into a field; cross this stile and turn left, as this is the end of the woodland that is permissive. On walking through this field, you will pass the entrance to Hawkeyeone1’s The Bigger the Better!!cache, which is a large, so you can drop off some rather big trackables. Continue walking until you reach the end of the footpath and come out on Bluebell Lane.
4. At the end of the road, turn right onto Quarry Road, passing a former Water Tower, (now in residence), please note that Quarry Road has no pavement in places and can get quite busy so please be careful with young geo-kids.
5. Turn right down a wide track, known as School Lane and walk right the way along the path until you reach your car. I hope you have enjoyed this walk.
This is the fourth in the Circular Donut series. I hope you really enjoy this one as it is probably the hardest of the series.
On-On to the final Circular Donut!
