A cache in the mountains above Salt Lake City
This cache combines three of my favorite things, hiking with my wife, baseball and geocaching.
It is one of 10 caches I've placed along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail that you can find during a morning or afternoon hike.
The Colorado Rockies have a lot of fans here in Salt Lake City. They've never won a World Championship but they made the World Series one time (losing to the Red Sox) and will be contenders for many years to come because they have a great nucleus in Tulowitzki, Gonzales, and Jimenez.
Use two cars, park one of them at the top of Terrace Hills Drive and drive the other over to Popperton Park where you can begin your hike. Before you get to the first of the 10 there are three caches placed by other owners that you can pick up on the way, Utah By 5, Juicy Fruits #6, and Tribute to HMC. Just keep finding caches and after you locate the last one you can hike downhill to your car. Don't forget to GPS mark where you parked.
Bring your own pen. All 10 caches contain a Lincoln pathtag. Please only take one.
It takes my wife and I 1:45 to hike from Popperton Park to the top of Terrace Hills Drive. We're in good shape but in our 50s. Cachers will take longer because you've got to stop at each one. Budget 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
Have Fun.
