Geocache Description:

A cache in the mountains above Salt Lake City.

This cache combines three of my favorite things, hiking with my wife, baseball and geocaching.

It is one of 10 caches I've placed along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail that you can find during a morning or afternoon hike.

As a kid I was a huge Oakland Athletics fan. This was in the early 70s when they won three World Series in a row and were always in contention. Remember these names - Jackson, Rudi, Green, Campaneris, Bando, Fosse, Odom?

Use two cars, park one of them at the top of Terrace Hills Drive and motor the other over to Popperton Park where you can begin your hike. Before you get to the first of the 10 there are three caches placed by other owners that you can pick up on the way, Utah By 5, Juicy Fruits #6, and Tribute to HMC. Just keep finding caches and after you locate the last one you can hike downhill to your car. Don't forget to GPS mark where you parked.

After you get this cache stay on the main trail for a few minutes, it'll diverge to the left and take you uphill towards Boston Red Sox.

Bring your own pen. All 10 caches contain a Lincoln Pathtag. Please only take one.

It takes my wife and I 1:45 to hike from Popperton Park to the top of Terrace Hills Drive. We're in good shape but in our 50s. Cachers will take longer because you've got to stop at each one. Budget 3 to 3 and 1/2 hours.

Have fun.
