A cache in the mountains above Salt Lake City.
This cache combines three of my favorite activities, hiking with my wife, baseball, and geocaching.
It is one of 10 caches I've placed along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail that you can find during a morning or afternoon hike.
My beloved San Francisco Giants. My favorite team. I began rooting for them seriously in the 1970s and after almost 40 years I was beginning to think they'd never win a championship. But out of nowhere last year they won it all. In the playoffs they beat Atlanta 3-1, Philadelphia 4-2, and Texas 4-1.
Lincecu, Cain, J. Sanchez, Bumgarner, Zito, Wilson, Affeldt, Romo, Ramirez, Runzler, Casilla, Mota, Posey, Huff, F. Sanchez, Renteria, Sandoval, Burrell, Torres, Ross, Rowand, Ishikawa, Schierholtz, Whiteside, Fontenot, Ford, Burriss.
Currently they have great pitching and some exciting rookies.
Use two cars, park one of them at the top of Terrace Hills Drive and motor the other over to Popperton Park where you can begin your hike. Before you get to the first of the 10 there are three caches placed by other owners that you can pick up on the way, Utah By 5, Juicy Fruits #6, and Tribute to HMC. Just keep finding caches and after you locate the last one you can hike downhill to your car. Don't forget to GPS mark where you parked.
All 10 caches contain a Lincoln pathtag. Please only take one.
This cache is at the highest point of the hike.
It takes my wife and I 1:45 to hike from Popperton Park to the top of Terrace Hills Drive. We're in good shape but in our 50s. Cachers will take longer because you've got to stop at each one. Budget 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
Have Fun.
