Parts of this area have never seen development. This night cache is placed in a wetland with a maintained trail. Insect repellent is a MUST. There is essentially no roadside parking. The best place to park is listed in the additional waypoints. Total hike is about 3km round-trip from suggested parking coordinates.
The area you enter to complete this cache is on GRCA lands and is part of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan. There is a no trespassing sign at the gate but I have confirmed with the GRCA that hiking is allowed in this area. There is a bog that is off limits. The cache doesn't take you anywhere near the bog so that shouldn't be a problem unless you are really lost. Travel east a little ways past the vehicle gate to find the entrance path.
You will start searching for this cache by finding a firefly firetack. When you find the firefly firetack you will know you are on the correct trail. Follow this trail until you see a stealth reflector. You will now leave the path for a short distance by following the firetacks. Watch your step. You are doing this cache at night so be sure of your footing. When you see the second firefly firetack you can look for a container. Inside you will find a redirect to the final. Do not remove the card.
The best way to find firetacks is to use a headlamp. We recommend you bring this equipment along. In the summer months the firetacks will be visible about one hour before sunset.
You are walking in a wetland. In season the mosquitoes are very active. You may have to cross some water. I have been to the final three times and did not get wet, it is possible. The trail you are on will take you all the way to Puslinch lake.
