Geocache Description:

Small container precariously balanced in Braintree Gap.

Another “forgotten road gap” in my Tour Divide racer series. The Tour Divide is a 2745 mile mountain bike race along the spine of the Continental Divide from Banff, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico (Mexican Border). I trained for this race in Vermont with DaveB and together we sought out old mountain roads like this one to simulate riding out West. As such this is a very long climb from either direction. Coming from the east one could drive most of the way up in a truck. From the west it is a bit shorter but much rougher. If you do this in a motor vehicle please be aware that there may be other trail users. I don't want to increase traffic and erosion on this road - so please tread lightly... consider parking on the Granville side and hiking up - it is a beautiful walk.

I named this cache after fellow racer Jon Billman. He wrote the article in Outside Magazine that sucked me into doing the race. This article is in the cache ... so take a minute to sit and read it if the black flies/mosquitoes/deer flies aren't too bad!

There is also a little memorial to DaveB in the cache. He introduced me to geocaching but died during the 2010 race. Check out his blog here (visit link)

Try to put container back as found... it is a bit delicate.

Please make sure the lid is sealed and cache is placed back as found!
