"RESCUE-ME!" -01- Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within the requested time period, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities.

If the cache owner would like to replace a cache at this location, please submit a new geocache listing and it will be reviewed under the current geocaching.com guidelines. Please don’t post a note on your archived listing as it won’t be forwarded to me and I won’t see it. If you need to contact me, please do so by emailing me through the contact link on my geocaching.com profile page or through my website www.wizardofooze.com

Thank you for your contributions to geocaching, and we hope to see you actively geocaching once again in the near future.

Geocache Description:

*** Due to weather, distance, etc. check the logs for any up-dated info. and tips before heading out! The terrain is flat however, I set the rating up a bit high to reflect possible swift deteriorating weather conditions, tide levels, exposed summer heat & extreme cold winter/storm conditions. This is a 'long' walk with no cover/protection available! ***

This is an FMR - 'Fire Fighter' - 'Medic' - 'Rescuer' themed geocache.

Bring/trade (small) S.W.A.G. that somehow reflects our adventurous (and really cool) theme!!

Mini-lights, small relectors, whistles, micro-rescue toys, etc. are encouraged.

*** Please, - 'no' matches, bandaids, or 'foods/candy' etc. - as they tend to soak up moisture and get rotten U-G-L-Y!! ... Yuk! ***

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POST UP SOME COOL OCEANVIEW PICS!!! Show a VICTORY snapshot!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pretend you and your geo-crew are part of a search and rescue team who has just been transported in via air-drop. Your mission will take you along a diminishing trail (or you can hike along the southside beach strip), beyond a forest/jungle, across great dunes, and towards the open sea!

It is within your mission perameters to locate this emergency supply cache, note your visit, and return safely to your original drop-zone.

GOOD-LUCK!!

3rd ... 'NEW' container!

- The new container is well anchored and better hidden from the average muggle (caches are ment to be found by 'cachers').
- The new container is designed to be accessed by simply unscrewing the top lid.
- Only the top-end (thin cap) of the black (ABS) container unscrews.
- Please do not 'pull' the container out from its position.
- Please do not remove the rocks covering/anchoring the container.
- There's just enough room to comfortably grip the lid/cap edge and square end with 2-hands to un-screw it.
- Please re-snug the O-ringed cap firmly as to keep storm rains & ocean wave-water out. Close firmly but don't over-tighten too much for the next GeoCacher(s).

Weather/waves can get rough out here!

Be sure to re-snug the screw-cap on in order to keep out the impending waves and weather! [Please don't get too technical here. Common sense will do just fine.]

-------------------------------------------------------

*** Allow 2-3 hours for this geo-quest. ***

This adventure involves a fairly long walk upon sand (...unless you have a boat handy?!). Mountain Bikes can be ridden along the wet sandy shoreline 'most' of the way. Hiking is much easier! The sand dunes atop the high tide crest are next to impossible for bike riding. I've rode both options and all I can say is if you love a workout then 'across the top' is possibly the route for you!?

Plan to head out at low tide. Mornings are great!

There is a small area of land along the trail near the beginning which has been marked as 'Private'. Simply follow the beach around the south of it although people regularily hike/ride the traversing trail. There 'appears' to be no issue with trespassing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** Out on the dunes - PLEASE - Watch Where You Step!! ***
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Killdeer birds build their nests upon the sand dunes, amongst the bits of scattered beach-wood debris. (see pic)

- The nests and eggs (see pic) are well camo'd on the sand and easily stepped on.

- Please watch your k-9s and kids. Stick to the semi-defined trailway across the dunes - or - simply hike along the southside beach at low tide.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no cover from the elements so be sure to dress/pack for the weather changes.

Bring water/snacks, sneakers/hike-boots and a hat!! (...bring your flip-flops too for some fun in the water, but be sure to also pack reliable footwear as well! )

HAVE FUN eh!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE (fun suggestion) POST IT: Ocean Sunset Pics?? Wildlife Shots?? Storm Images? .... Crew Victory Dance Pose???
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Pre-FTF-congrats -- ...to cacher 'Dr.BumBum' from Lauchringen, Germany who just happened to approach my son & I while we were caching the main/pipe jetty series (just after emplacing the 'RESCUE ME' cache). He'd just finished this line of hides and recoginzed our 'discrete activity' as fellow cachers.

We offered him the(then)unpublished coords to which he took up the quest for. Later in the day we crossed paths again and were informed of his successful journey!!
