To our knowledge this will be the first event held on the Burin Peninsula. We are looking forward to seeing geocachers from far and near, veterans, newbies, or anyone in between! We are going to try our best to hide between 30 and 50 caches, maybe more if time allows!
This event will be held in the day use area of Frenchman's Cove Provincial Park. We have cleared this with the park and you will need a provincial park driving pass if you plan on coming in your vehicle. If you do not wish to pay for a pass you will have to walk in from the road. We have permission for people to camp together in the day use area, there is a grassy field for tents, and a big parking area for trailers. This would not need to be booked in advance but if you wish to stay in a regular site booking would be a good idea. There will be a fee for staying in the day use area and would have to be paid at the office on your arrival. It is not necessary to stay at the park to claim this event, there are other accommodations in the area and if you would like more information feel free to contact us.
This event will begin at 9 a.m. near shermandkim's trailer in the day use area. At this time we will distribute information regarding the new caches we have hidden for this event. These caches will not be posted online until after the event. We are hoping to have everyone on their way to finding caches by 10 a.m. We will also be distributing welcome bags to all teams at this time.
Saturday evening, weather permitting we will have a campfire in the day use area, and everyone is welcome to come and join us to share stories of our day and to help each other out with some hints about the trickier caches. We will be providing campfire foods for anyone interested.
The event will end on Sunday @ 12 noon. At this time everyone is requested to meet in the day use area once again and prizes will be distributed. Some will be a random draw, others will be based on the number of FTF's on the new caches for the event. You must be present at this time in order to qualify to win any prizes. There are some fantastic prizes to be won so it would most definitely be worth your while. Everyone will leave with a prize. We will provide lunch in the form of hot dogs and hamburgers.
It would be very much appreciated if when listing that you will be attending this event if you could include the number of people on your team as well as specify the number of kids.
