Dalbeattie Town Wood. Once an area of open grazing and granite outcrops, the forest was planted from the 1920's, and now extends six miles south to the village of Colvend. Today, a cycle of planting and felling provides a sustainable supply of timber for our everyday needs - from cereal boxes to house building. One of Scotlands biggest sawmills sits behind the forest and provides many local jobs. Dalbeattie Forest is an amazing place for woodland wildlife and is rich in archaeological heritage. Parking is available at N54 55.206 W 003 48.970. Follow the all abilities white trail which is a circular route which takes approx. 45 minutes. The sculpture you are looking for is called " A way to look for light " by Bruno Gueheneuf. Cache is a long round tube.
