This project was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and through funding from the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) of the Minnesota Department of Health with additional funding from the Owatonna Public Library Foundation.
While the library wrote the grant, many partners assisted in planning and in execution: SHIP/Steele County Public Health, Owatonna Arts Center, Owatonna Park-Rec Department, City of Blooming Prairie, and the Owatonna Public Library Foundation. Many thanks for everyone's participation and interest. The project also received formal approval from the Library Board, the Orphanage Board, the West Hills Commission and the Owatonna City Council. The Library Legacy funding was approved by a committee of public representatives and SELCO staff.
Wil Natzel lives and works in Owatonna, MN. He graduated from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2009 with a Master of Architecture. He has produced and assembled large architectural constructions of cut cardboard for The Soap Factory in Minneapolis. In 2007 he received a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University. He has been invited as critic to studio reviews at the University of Michigan and Iowa State University. Early in his career, he interned for Charlie Lazor, designing FlatPak prefabricated bathrooms. Wil’s field of work circulates around the periphery of eclectic architecture, counteracting the banal.
Much of the sculpture was completed by Steele County craftsmen, specifically at J Shore & Co LLC of Owatonna.
