Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches placed for Alice Day (2011) in Oxford.

This one is placed near former entrance of Science Oxford in St Clements. PLEASE NOTE from August 2013 the new tenants will be moving into the building and staff will now be unaware of the cache.

PLEASE USE EXTREME STEALTH

The cache is a small tin containing a log book and small pencil.

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by his pseudonymn of Lewis Carroll, spent the majority of his adult life in Oxford where he was a lecturer in Mathematics. However, it is as the author of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There" that he is best known.

Amongst his other works is the nonsense poem "The Hunting of the Snark (An Agony in 8 Fits)" the plot of which has been described thus: "with infinite humour the impossible voyage of an improbable crew to find an inconceivable creature".

This cache has been placed to celebrate Alice Day (2011) which commemorates the very first telling of Alice in Wonderland (on 4 July 1862).

Wheelchair users should be able to get right up to the cache, but may need asistance retrieving it.
