A quick, stretch a leg, road side cache along the Trans-Kalahari Highway. The cache is hidden at a picnic spot.
The Trans-Kalahari Highway in Botswana joins the Namibian boarder at Buitepos, the South African boarder at Pioneer Gate and the town of Maun, providing a trade corridor from Johannesburg to Windhoek and the port of Walvis Bay.
It is however a very dangerous road due to the it being unfenced. Live stock graze along side the highway and sleep on the warm tar surface at night.
The Trans Kalahari highway is a long road with only a few petrol stops along the way. There are however many picnic spots along the route that are sadly not used, till now.
While stopping at the cache location, enjoy the abundance of wild life, especially the birds. Take a moment to absorb the different sounds all around you as you are in the Kalahari Bush.
The picnic spots have tables, big shady trees and safe parking off the main road.
Please respect the bush and the wild, leave nothing except foot prints and take nothing except memories. Please replace the cache exactly as found.
