It has been a quiet June, hasn't it? To keep things interesting,
let me take you around a park that is related to June -- Hougang
Neighbourhood Park 6.
The published coordinates will take you to the main entrance of
the park -- the final cache location is somewhere else. This cache
is a field puzzle and is designed to take you around the park
introducing the various interesting parts of this little
neighbourhood park in the heartlands of Singapore.
The Neighbourhood 6 Park in Hougang was opened by the then
Minister for Communications & Information Technology Mr Yeo
Cheow Tong on Sep 10, 2000. Take a look at the plaque at the bottom
of the entrance rock and see this information.
WP1: N 01°22.504', E 103°53.180'
From the entrance, make your way to this waypoint (it should be
on the left of your starting location). This is the mini-road
circuit of the park, where children ride their small push-cars
around during the weekend mornings and RC car enthusiasts drive
their little cars around on some evenings. There is a nice
semicircular opening where taichi folks practise their craft
every morning and lovers sit around to talk at night.
Count the number of traffic sign posts for the mini-road circuit
and call this P.
WP2: N 01°22.508', E 103°53.192'
From WP1, take a little walk towards the right of the main
entrance and enter this little green location. Even though this
place looks like a hedge maze in disguise, believe it or not, it is
supposed to be a spice garden. In fact, on some mornings when the
air is fresh and the dew is still hovering about, you can smell the
sweetness of the various spices around.
Count the number of lamp posts with 2 lamps on it and call this
A.
WP3: N 01°22.534', E 103°53.178'
After smelling the soft and subtle fragrance of the spice
garden, take a little walk towards the left to this waypoint to the
foot massage path. This foot massage path is like most others out
there in natural settings; they are made of rocks. There are
actually two layers here: the outer more rounded light coloured
rocks and the inner more acute darker rocks for a deeper massage.
The inner rock pattern forms a pretty floral pattern.
Count the number of petals of the central flower pattern and
call this R.
WP4: N 01°22.555', E 103°53.192'
From the foot massage corner, take a short walk towards this
waypoint where a hut sits and is flanked by barbecue pits. Look
through the hut and you will see a lovely playground where little
children play.
Count the number of tables near the barbecue pits and call this
K.
By now you would have the values for PARK. Compute the place
that you ought to be standing with:
N 01°22.[(R+1)×(P/2)×(R+K+1)], E
103°53.[(A+K)×(P×2+1)]
Then, head for a distance of [6+P+A+R+K] metres with a
bearing of [(2×K)+(R/A)×(6+P+A+R+K)]°.
Be careful, final location is a little muggly, so stealth is a
must. Be sure to replace it as well as you can out of sight.
