Do You Know the Muffler Man? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months and there does not appear to be any action to restore the cache, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note: Geocaches that are archived due to lack of maintenance/communication will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The famous Joor Muffler Man in Escondido is featured on just about every website or blog about Muffler Men. He has stood at the corner of East Valley Parkway and North Juniper Street for 40 years.

Muffler Men, manufactured by International Fiberglass Company in Venice, California first started popping up in the early 1960's. The first was a Paul Bunyan at a cafe in Arizona along Route 66.

One of the first caches that the team of urban_dwellers found was "Recycled Muffler Man" by Dan-oh. This was our first Dan-oh hide and as he said in his original notes, "it might be a challenge". If was for sure but at the same time it was a real eye opener to all the possibilities of what, where, and how you can hide an urban cache. It was a thrill to us when we finally found it (third trip I think) and we hope this is as much fun for you. Keep in mind, cache names can be deceiving -- trust your GPS.

Congrats to yoyo ken and vulcanmom for FTF!
