Diagon Alley - Thanks for the Magic Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. If the cache owner would like to replace a cache at this location, please submit a new geocache listing and it will be reviewed under the current Geocaching guidelines.

Please do not respond to this note by sending an email reply - your response will go to an unmonitored location and disappear into the ether instead of being sent to me. If you need to contact me regarding this cache, please do so using the link on my Profile Page

Thank you for your contribution to geocaching.

Geocache Description:

Due to the unfortunate Muggle Massacre of Diagon Alley, we've moved the cache away from the original location inside the HUGE tree. Be VERY stealthy, make sure nobody is watching from the overpass. Thanks!
Congratulations to Qwackers, CondoMagnate and mrgulllable on the FTF!
Congrats on 2nd location FTF: VE7LGP & Geo__Princess!

Thanks for the Magic is a series of various cache types ranging from micro to large. There are seven caches that contain a multiple choice question that you will need in order to solve the location of the eighth and final cache. The first 7 caches can be done in any order you choose. These are the first caches we’ve placed, and we created them as a family, with input from our 1, 3 and 6 year olds (so most of them are near playgrounds) and they are all in kid friendly locations. We’re hoping to get these placed in time for the BC Geocaching Blitz 2011; the theme is “Thanks”. Our thanks go to the magic of geocaching and Harry Potter, which are two things our family enjoys together.

Diagon Alley is accessible to the wizarding world, to which it is something of an economic hub, but hidden from Muggles (non-magical folk). If a wizard or witch needs something, chances are that it can be found in Diagon Alley.

*** January 2015 UPDATE - After 3 1/2 years as a puzzle box cache, we have tired of having to replace it because people keep taking it. Yes, it was very cool - too bad people couldn't leave it in place to share with others. We have replaced this with a 'small' cache with the much needed clue inside. This will help you along on your quest to find The Chamber of Secrets. Good luck! ***

* Original 2011 Cache info, left here for history (no longer applies as of 2015) - This shouldn’t be too hard to find. Please use stealth, as this spot attracts teen muggles. The twist is that the log book is inside a small wooden box. To claim credit for the cache, and to get a co-ordinate for the final, you have to figure out how to open the box. It can be opened in one easy step.

Please do not use excessive force, pry, disassemble or smash the container in frustration.

We suggest taking it to the bench located nearby and working on it there; that way it should draw less attention to the cache site by potential muggles. If you can't get it open, E-mail us and we'll give you a hint. This has a tiny bit of room for itty bitty trades – mini coins, stickers, etc. Remember to bring paper to write down your clue for the final co-ordinates.
